QB Connor Shaw Awarded To The Chicago Bears

Former Cleveland Browns backup quarterback Connor Shaw has been awarded to the Chicago Bears, where he'll be re-united with former Browns quarterback coach, Dowell Loggains, as well as former quarterback, Brian Hoyer.

Shaw, 24, will more than likely be the third-team quarterback backing up starter Jay Cutler and Hoyer.

In 2014, both Shaw and Hoyer were teammates with the Cleveland Browns where new Bears offensive coordinator, Dowell Loggains, was their quarterback coach in Cleveland.

Shaw missed the entire 2015 NFL season after undergoing thumb surgery. Now with the former Rookie of the Year with the Washington Redskins, Robert Griffin III, a member of the Browns after signing a two-year deal this past off-season, and with the Browns drafting quarterback Cody Kessler out of USC in this year's draft, the Browns felt there wasn't enough room on their roster for five quarterbacks. So on Thursday, Cleveland waived Connor Shaw and he was quickly claimed by two teams -- the New Orleans Saints and the Chicago Bears.

After the Bears found out that the Saints had put in a claim for Shaw, the Bears quickly followed suit. With Shaw's departure from the Browns, that leaves Cleveland with four quarterbacks on their roster heading into training camp -- RGIII, Josh McCown, Cody Kessler and Austin Davis.
