Buffalo Bills to Sign Reggie Bush

Former San Francisco 49ers running back Reggie Bush has found a new home to continue his NFL career. The 31-year-old is expected to sign with the Buffalo Bills after working out for the team today in Rochester, New York. During his 10-year NFL career, Bush has played for the New Orleans Saints, Miami Dolphins, Detroit Lions, and the 49ers. Bush played only five games for the 49ers last year after tearing his ACL against the St. Louis Rams.

With Lesean McCoy suffering from injuries, and with Karlos Williams serving a four-game suspension, Bush could get a decent amount of carries to start the season. Once those two return, Bush will serve as a veteran presence and a punt returner. Bush has returned 100 punts for 781 yards and four touchdowns during his career. Bush was a superstar in college, especially when he won the Heisman Trophy with USC in 2005. Bush was selected with the second overall pick in the 2006 NFL Draft by the Saints, but he was never able to live up to the hype in the Big Easy.

Bush never surpassed 1,000 yards in four seasons with New Orleans, and he missed 20 games with injuries. Bush had a career year when he signed with the Dolphins in 2011. Bush had a career-high 1,086 yards, and he scored six touchdowns. Bush compiled 986 yards and six touchdowns the next season, before leaving Miami to play on the Lions. Bush had another quality season in 2013, as he rushed for 1,006 yards and four touchdowns.

After that season, Bush saw a significant drop-off in his statistics. Bush had only 76 carries in 2014, and he had just 297 rushing yards and two touchdowns. Bush had 28 yards and zero touchdowns with the 49ers last season. In 10 years, Bush has 5,493 rushing yards, 3,508 receiving yards, and 53 offensive touchdowns.
